One Shining Moment: Flames 6, Sens 3

I’ve done nice things for my friends occasionally. When I moved, I gave the stash of Lush products I accumulated during my time working there to two friends with massive Lush addictions. I once ran half way across campus to make sure my friend Arizona didn’t miss seeing her future husband Jensen Ackles filming a scene for Supernatural outside the library. I enjoyed doing these things, because my friends are nice and I like them.
But would I ever fight Dion Phaneuf for my friends?
Hell no. Do I seem suicidal to you?
For that reason, I’m sending massive props to our friend Giggles tonight. Jason, you may not have done very well in the fight. In fact it may have been slightly sad. He may even have taken you down without breaking a sweat, or at least without producing any new sweat on top of the sweat he already had. All that may be true; nonetheless, tonight, you can hold your head high (which is funny because if Heater had done that in the first place none of this would have happened). You tried to avenge your best friend, your other half, your sometime partner in offensive supertasticness. And in the process you took tonight’s game, which I otherwise would have been wishing on a star to forget as quickly as possible, and made it somewhat less than totally depressing.
I salute you.

The trade deadline.
You may have heard: it’s tomorrow.
The Sens, as one of the few teams that is well and truly out of the playoff race, might be able to make a splash or two by auctioning off some players. Has Filip Kuba just scored his last goal for the Senators? Will Chris Neil ever be seen in an Ottawa uniform again? Is it finally time to show Christoph Schubert the way out of town?
Personally, I love the deadline. The rumours, the hype, the inevitable letdown when nothing happens: it’s all a nice break from the everyday NHL routine. I’m hoping for big things. It’d be awesome if some unexpected blockbuster mega deal went down. Of course, that probably isn’t likely.
That’s why I’m going to have to make my own fun, and present my thoughts throughout the day in haiku form.
See you tomorrow, when I wake up ridiculously early in order not to miss any of the super exciting action.
